Our Services and Treatments
At Breathing and Functional Dentistry, we strive for optimal airway performance with unique medical and dental modalities. Together with our team of professionals, we address sleep and breathing disorders, facial and TMJ pain and other symptoms of oxygen deprivation, and guide the body to maximize development in the face and airway.
We believe that the body has the capacity to heal itself. Using an orthotic such as the Vivos DNA, mRNA, and mmRNA, Homeoblock or the POD, the body naturally responds to the unique design and begins a path to wellness. Some of our appliances can replace the CPAP machine or eliminate the symptoms associated with sleep apnea. We also believe in myofunctional therapy and it's role in developing strong functional airways.
Tongue-tie or ankyloglossia is an anatomical feature that tethers the tongue to the floor of the mouth. Tongue-tied babies have a difficult time latching onto the breast. Adults with tongue-tie may have functional challenges such as speech problems, swallowing issues, sleep and breathing dysfunction, clenching or grinding, headaches, muscle tension, just to name a few. A frenectomy is a simple procedure where the tongue is released. Dr. Sheahan has extensive training in CO2 laser assisted frenectomies for infants, children and adults. Myofunctional therapy is always part of tongue-tie release surgery.
